Exterior Machine Cut

Details

What's Included?

Machine cutting — also known as paint correction — uses a dual-action or rotary polishing machine with a cutting compound to mechanically remove a fine layer of clear coat, levelling out swirl marks, light scratches, water spot etching, and surface oxidation. The result is a dramatically improved paint finish with far greater clarity, gloss, and depth of colour.

New Zealand's driving conditions are particularly hard on paintwork. UV-induced oxidation, fine scratches from automated carwashes, and swirl marks that accumulate from years of incorrect washing technique all compound over time to give even well-maintained cars a dull, hazy appearance. Machine cutting addresses all of these issues in a single treatment.

Our machine cut process is performed by trained detailers who understand how to safely remove the minimum amount of clear coat needed to achieve the desired correction. Clear coat is finite, so responsible paint correction means getting the best result while preserving as much protective clear coat as possible for the long term. After cutting, a polish and protective coating is highly recommended to seal and protect the freshly corrected surface.
